The Veterinary Technician Instructor is responsible for providing high-quality classroom, laboratory, and clinical instruction that prepares students for successful careers in veterinary medicine. The ideal candidate will bring current industry knowledge, practical veterinary experience, and a passion for educating and mentoring future veterinary technicians.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare and deliver engaging lecture, laboratory, and clinical instruction in accordance with the approved Veterinary Technician curriculum.
• Follow current course outlines, learning objectives, instructional standards, and student evaluation procedures.
• Develop and maintain daily lesson plans that support course objectives and provide an organized, effective learning environment.
• Incorporate hands-on activities, demonstrations, and real-world veterinary scenarios to enhance student learning and develop practical skills.
• Monitor student attendance, academic progress, engagement, and retention, and maintain accurate documentation as required.
• Evaluate and grade student assignments, examinations, laboratory work, and other assessments in a timely manner, generally within 48 hours of the due date.
• Provide academic support, tutoring, and guidance to students during scheduled office hours or by appointment.
• Mentor and advise students regarding academic performance, program expectations, school policies, professional conduct, and career preparation.
• Maintain regular communication with the Lead Instructor, Program Chair, Academic Dean, and/or Campus President regarding student progress and academic matters.
• Substitute for other instructors or classes as needed.
• Identify and submit requests for current textbooks, instructional materials, laboratory supplies, equipment, and other resources necessary to support the program.
• Monitor laboratory equipment, supplies, and inventory and ensure resources are properly maintained and available for instructional use.
• Obtain consumable supplies and educational materials through established administrative procedures.
• Promote and maintain a safe, clean, organized, and professional classroom and laboratory environment.
• Model professional behavior, appearance, communication, and ethical standards expected of veterinary professionals.
• Maintain current knowledge and professional expertise through continuing education, industry engagement, professional seminars, current literature, online courses, and other professional development activities.
• Complete required faculty development, teaching improvement, and online training, Foundations of Teaching modules, and other institutional training as assigned.
• Ensure students adhere to applicable college policies, program requirements, safety procedures, and catalog guidelines.
• Attend all required faculty, departmental, and institutional meetings.
• Participate in committees and special projects, including curriculum development, student retention, and other initiatives, as assigned based on expertise and campus needs.
• For online instruction, regularly monitor course activity and student participation, respond to student questions, and grade assignments within established timeframes,
• Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by academic or campus leadership.

Job Qualifications & Skills:

• Associate degree required; degree in Veterinary Technology or a related field preferred.
• Minimum of four (4) years of verifiable professional experience as a Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT) required.
• Current CVT credential and/or eligibility consistent with applicable program and accreditation requirements.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and related presentation technologies.
• Strong knowledge of veterinary technology principles, procedures, patient care, laboratory techniques, and clinical practices.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong interpersonal, organizational, and time-management skills.
• Demonstrated ability to effectively teach and mentor students with varying levels of experience.
• Ability to create engaging, hands-on learning experiences in classroom, laboratory, and clinical environments.
